Abstract

Drinking water quality is an essential factor in maintaining public health; however, issues related to water quality are still found at household and school levels. This community service activity aimed to improve drinking water quality through surveillance, education, and community assistance in the working area of Cangkol Public Health Center, Cirebon City. The method included drinking water quality surveillance with a total of 60 samples from households and schools, followed by educational interventions and community assistance. The results showed that most physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters met health standards, although some chemical parameters still required attention. Educational and mentoring activities led to increased knowledge, behavioral changes in water management, and improved awareness of environmental sanitation. Additionally, the emergence of health cadres and teachers as local leaders contributed to the sustainability of the program. Continuous monitoring and strengthening community participation are recommended to maintain drinking water quality.

Abstrak

Kualitas air minum berperan penting dalam kesehatan masyarakat, namun permasalahan kualitas air minum masih ditemukan pada rumah tangga dan sekolah sehingga diperlukan upaya pengawasan dan edukasi. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan mengetahui kondisi kualitas air minum serta meningkatkan pengetahuan dan perilaku masyarakat melalui surveilans, edukasi, dan pendampingan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Cangkol Kota Cirebon. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui surveilans kualitas air minum pada 60 sampel rumah tangga dan sekolah dengan pemeriksaan parameter fisik, kimia, dan mikrobiologi, serta intervensi berupa edukasi dan pendampingan masyarakat. Sebagian besar parameter kualitas air minum memenuhi syarat kesehatan, meskipun masih ditemukan beberapa parameter kimia yang perlu perhatian. Edukasi dan pendampingan meningkatkan pengetahuan, perilaku pengelolaan air minum, serta kesadaran sanitasi lingkungan. Kader kesehatan dan guru juga berperan dalam keberlanjutan program. Surveilans, edukasi, dan pendampingan berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan perilaku masyarakat terkait pengelolaan air minum yang aman. Monitoring berkelanjutan dan penguatan peran masyarakat diperlukan untuk menjaga kualitas air minum.
